The Sonoma County 4-H Program is one of the most active in California.  This youth development program offers a broad and exciting range of 'projects'  -- from model rocketry, lapidary skills, sewing, canning, Lego robotics, geocaching to cows, goats, rabbits, poultry, sheep and horses.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No age limits.  The Chicken Run welcomes all ages! 

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Free parking is available in the lot across from the Brookwood Avenue entrance to the fairgrounds.  To get to that lot, please go to 1350 Bennett Valley Rd and drive in the entrance to the Jockey Club then cut over to the lot closest to the fairgrounds.  Please be careful when walking across Brookwood Avenue!  

What can/can't I bring to the event?
We encourage all our participants to dress as their favorite bird/poultry. We will have tutus, chicken hats & feather boas available for purchase at our check-in table on event day to help you embellish your look for the run.


Please do not bring alcohol or weapons into the event.   Also, participants on bicycles, roller skates, skateboards or hoverboards are not allowed on the race course during this event. Thank you for your understanding.

Do I need to complete & sign a race waiver?​
Once your registration is complete you’ll receive an email confirmation from our registration site. If you have not completed an online race waiver, you will be expected to sign one at packet pick-up.  If you have a family member or friend pick-up your packet, a signed waiver must be presented before we will release the bib sheet.  Thank you for your understanding.

Are strollers, baby carriers or baby backpacks allowed on the course?  What about wheelchairs?
Yes, all are welcomed. Please allow space for runners and faster paced participants to get by on the course.  Be aware that not all surfaces of the course are paved.  Some areas will be of uneven dirt surfaces.  If it has rained recently, some areas might be muddy.


Are dogs allowed on the course?
Sorry, only service dogs are allowed.  It seems chickens and dogs don’t always mix well. (Also, this is a fairground restriction.)

Are there race time limits?
All participants should only participate if they are confident that they can finish the race in 2.5 hours or less. Race monitors, safety/health volunteers and race officials will vacate the course at 12:30 pm. Anyone continuing to walk/run the course will be doing so at their own risk.

Are there aid/water stations along the route?

Yes, water stations are strategically positioned along the 5K (3.1 miles) course.  There will also be cut-up fruit and water at the finish line.

Finisher's Award  - Where & when do I receive it?

You will receive your special Chicken Run finisher's medal when you cross the finish line.  Our volunteers will be happy to place it around your neck or hand it to you moments after you complete the course. 

Medals need to be picked up on race day. If you happen not to pick-up your medal, please e-mail us and we’ll let you know the cost to have your award shipped.

Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Please be aware that ALL entries are non transferable and non-refundable. Entries are good only for the year they are intended. Entries cannot be deferred from one year to the next and are non-transferable from person to person. This applies whether or not you may be injured, have moved, or any other reason. We cannot make any exceptions to this policy. This is a fundraiser and your unused entry fee will go to support the 4-H program. Thank you for your understanding.​

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You will only need your printed ticket when you pick-up your packet.  Packet pick-up day will be Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds Carnival Lot (lawn) from    10 am to 2 pm.

Packets can be picked up on the day of event from 8 am to 9:30 am.


Can I register the day of the event?
  Yes, you can register on the mroning of the run from 8 am to 9:30 am.  We will not be able to process credit cards SO ONLY CASH OR CHECKS WILL BE ALLOWED.  Also, t-shirts and awards will only be available as long as our supplies last.

What is the refund policy?
No refunds. Once again, this is a fundraiser for the 4-H program in Sonoma County. We appreciate your donation to this local youth program!

Where do event volunteers report?​​

Volunteers should check in at the Volunteer Check-In tent on the fairground's Carnival Lot lawn.
